Three ways are open to a person who is in sorrow.
One who stands on a normal rung weeps,
one who stands higher is silent,
but one who stands on the topmost rung
converts sorrow into song.
~ Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Kotzk
How happy are those who live in your house;
they never cease to praise you! Selah.
How happy the man whose strength is in you,
in whose heart are highways.
Passing through the valley of Baka (weeping),
they make it a place of springs,
and the early rain clothes it with Berachot (blessings).
They go from strength to strength
and appear before God in Tziyon.
To help make our traverse of the Three Week ~ Beit HaMitzarim, more meaningful, and to bring greater understanding to the lessons offered us during this time, we are sharing a short excerpt a day from Sherri Mandell’s book, THE ROAD TO RESILIENCE – FROM CHAOS TO CELEBRATION.
